Lauren Okumoto was born and raised in Hawai’i on the island of Oahu. She attended Windward Community College and received her A.A in Liberal Arts. Shortly after, Lauren transferred to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco to obtain a B.F.A in Painting and Drawing. She completed her degree in August of 2014.
Lauren is currently working on a series of pieces titled, “Senses”, which focuses on the perception of the five senses and the various ways they are perceived by different people. The use of vibrant colors of blues, purples, pinks, and greens symbolize the harmony shared by the senses and the body parts that represent them. The abstract shapes compose an interesting design that is whimsical yet calming. Lauren lives and works in Hawai’i.
